Lynda Butler-Staples
I began my love of yoga over 30 years ago, attending many styles of classes and with different teachers over the years. I trained to teach it myself almost 10 years ago now, first as a Teen Yoga teacher as I was working in a sixth form at the time and could see how yoga could really help young people. I loved teaching this so much that I continued to train in Hatha and Yin Yoga to start working with more age groups and communities. I have more recently taken various additional training and study, including Yoga for cancer; Yoga for chronic fatigue, burn out & long covid; meditation; mindfulness; and understanding trauma, anxiety and depression. I have a background of teaching Psychology and SEN in schools for over 20 years which underpins my understanding of differing human needs & experiences, the brain/body connection, and helped cultivate a genuine compassion for others. I now solely teach yoga classes and workshops online, and around the Belper area of Derbyshire. I also teach a couple of one-to-one sessions with people that have had, or are undergoing cancer treatment, and have led a few sessions in Nottingham Maggies Centre.
After having undergone breast cancer treatment myself 12 years ago, I have great empathy for others in similar situations. I am deeply grateful for having had yoga practices to help support me through, and to now share with others that may benefit. I believe that yoga is for everyone, it enriches our own lives and those around us. I have developed a mindful approach in which I offer gentle, inclusive classes to support physical and emotional wellbeing. I also run deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra and meditation sessions occasionally.
